max had been having some issues sleeping lately. sometimes it'd be hard to put him to sleep - he'd fall asleep fine but just when you set him down, he'll wake up crying. other times he'd wake up in the middle of the night or wake up much earlier than we'd anticipate. in general tho, i think he just wasn't sleeping enough for a baby his age. i think a normal baby his age should be getting about 13-14 hours of sleep while he only gets about 10 hours. we'd put him to bed normally around 10pm and he'd wake up eventually at about 6am and then maybe 1 or 2 hours of naps during the day.

wifey saved us and purchased this self-help-dvd on amazon (celebrity endorsed by ben stiller and jack black) it basically teaches that you should be extremely routined and when putting your kid to sleep - no rocking just set him down and ignore the crying. babies will eventually learn to put themselves to sleep. i must say i think it's worked out great. we've only been using it for a few days now but we can definately see results. the first night he cried for about 45 minutes before he fell asleep - the second night down to 15 min. the second night he also slept for almost 10 hours! let's hope he can keep it up.

this past week i have also started a new position at work. i am no longer working at the datacenter and also no longer a manager. i've been at this job for about 6 years now and at yahoo even longer; it sure seems like an eternity. they say each year working at yahoo is equivalent to at least 2 years somewhere else - since it's so fast paced. so i already have a decade and a half of experience! hah. i'm very excited to be learning new things but sad to see goodbye to my old coworkers. cube life has definitely been the biggest change.

buh bye old desk.
